"Between the Ears" is a blog for Mrs. Calhoun's Arts and Humanities class. Why "Between the Ears?" Between the ears refers to your brain; the part of you that matters and represents you. Each of us have something of value to share.
Quote of the Week
Drawing is the honesty of art. To draw does not mean simply to reproduce contours: drawing does not consist merely of line. Drawing is also expression, the inner form, the plane and modeling. See what remains after that. Drawing includes three and a half quarters of the content of painting. -- Jean Auguste Ingres Quote

ReplyDeleteit's a horrible thing to handle as a kid. but as you older it will become easier to handle and understand
ReplyDeleteThats depressing. Sad Face
ReplyDeletei feel kinda sad because when i got out of school that day i was happy now that I'm old enough to understand i feel different about the whole situation.
ReplyDeletei wish that we could have stopped it so many innocent people died that day :(
ReplyDeletei agree with all she has said.
ReplyDeletehorrible thing to handle as a kid i know this but it does get better as you grow
ReplyDeleteThat's really sad and i wish it could of been avoided
ReplyDeleteit has to be hard for anybody and i can even imagine it happening to us it must be really hard.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been hard for a kid that young to have his father die.
ReplyDeleteWhat ^they^ said.
ReplyDeleteits sad that that thing can happen to them and even us
ReplyDeletewell i think what happened on 9/11 was hoax but that just my opinon
ReplyDeleteAfter dealing with such a tragedy, this kid picked himself up and matured and used his experience to help others. That is amazing.
ReplyDeleteim disgusted with the terrorists who caused this and i think we should do the same to them and let them feel the pain of all those who lost their loved ones that day
ReplyDeleteThat would be really hard on a little ( yr old to lose his father. Especially since he was a boy. That means his father couldn't raise him to do the things that guys do! I feel sorry for not only him and his family, but for everyone who died in 9/11 and their families.
ReplyDeletethat is horrible
ReplyDeleteI view 9/11 as a tragedy that could have been prevented. It is sad that the boy lost his father. But, it is also sad thousands of other people lost family members and friends. I'm glad he moved on from it and took something good from the bad.
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible that a kid that little can go through that kind of tragedy and pain, overcome it, and use this experience to help other people.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how this young child has triumphed over his rough situations and decided to help others in need.
ReplyDeleteI like how this kid made sure that his dad is never forgotten after what happen.
ReplyDeletei think its awesome how selfless he became in order to help other people :)
ReplyDeleteIts sad that he lost his dad at a young age. But he will never forget his dad and he will have some memories with him.
ReplyDeletesad for those who died and those left behind. time is something we know we have, but we don't know how much of.
ReplyDeleteI can't even...... Wow. This is just too depressing. All there's left to do is pray!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that the boy dealt with his fathers death well, and is now very patriotic and supportive of our country
ReplyDeleteit was horrible in that day
ReplyDeletedude, i feel bad for that guy. it must suck to lose someone that close to you so early in life.
ReplyDeleteThis is extremely tragic but at least he made something good out it.
ReplyDeleteWow, if I was him i'd be scarred for life.
ReplyDeleteafter reading this article I about wanted to cry. i can't even imagine how hard it is to loose a parent at such a young age. It's something that will never be forgotten and he especially will always remember it. Hopefully he will always try to keep moving forward like his dad most likely would want him to.
ReplyDeletethe article is very heart felt and really reflects not only on that one incident of tragedy but how this event effected americans outlook on life as a whole
ReplyDeleteThis article portrays how every one who lost a family member because of 9-11 should handle this kind of situation. As a little boy, losing his father made him upset at first. But after awhile, he became to understand that his father died doing something heroic for his beloved country. He no longer disagrees with the war, he believes revenge should be put upon the heartless people who killed his dad, along with other innocent people. As a 19 year old, he is now pursuing in his dreams with every memory of his dad right beside him.
ReplyDeletei feel safe with our government
ReplyDeleteaw thats sucks.... my grandmother died a few years ago and i was devastated
ReplyDeleteThats Sad :(
ReplyDeleteTo have your dad die at age 9, it really is hard to bear it when your that young.
ReplyDeleteI would feel sad if my dad died when i was 9
ReplyDeleteI think its sad that a kid his age had to go through that, i bet many other kids had to as well but i think its a good thing he grew into love other than into hate, following in his fathers footsteps and made the best of the tragedy.
ReplyDeleteit must have been hard for a young boy to grow up with out a father.
ReplyDeleteThis article was very touching and heart warming. For a child to go through something like that must be a terrible thing. For him to handle growing up with a thought like that must be horrible.
ReplyDeleteIt must be really hard for the boy to have to mature so fast because he wants to take care of his family. No child should have to do that, they should be able to be kids and have fun, not grow up so fast at such a young age.
ReplyDeletegood to have goverment like ours
ReplyDeleteIt is really sad that he lost his father so young. He will never forget even the smallest memories made before this tragedy happened.
ReplyDeleteThe article was Heart-Warming and gives great details about the attack and I Agree with Cameron.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the little boy. I couldn't even imagine loosing my dad at that age. He probably looked up to him a lot. But it's good that he's doing things to help people that are in the situation he experienced.
ReplyDeleteThat was a very sad story but I think that 9/11 was something that also made our country much stronger in patriotism and defensive. We definetley made the best of that terrible tragedy.
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a very depressing story. I couldn't imagine losing my father. Much less at age nine.
ReplyDeleteWhen your father dies when your 9 is really hard. The thing is that he put it aside became the man of the house and he took care of his mom and sister.
ReplyDeletethats awful
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how hard it would be to live through this situation.
ReplyDeleteThis Guy turned this devastating loss into a victory for himself because he uses it to encourage himself and he uses it to follow his dream and do everything in honor of his father.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the people who had to experience such an awful event. I couldn't imagine the feeling of losing someone I love.
ReplyDeleteI understand that it would be hard but get over it, move on already. Alot of people lost family in 9-11.
ReplyDeleteits sad and i fill sorry the kids.
ReplyDeleteI feel really safe it our government. But i feel that in order for people to heal from the attack we need to back off on 9/11 a little bit, but never forget those who died. but give space for people to heal.
ReplyDeleteIt would be horrible to lose a loved one. Even though 9/11 was a horrible occurrence, it brought us closer as a nation.
ReplyDelete9/11 was seriously a tragedy,I don't know hat i would do w/o my family... All of the victims & their families are still in everyone's thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for him it must be hard to lose a parent that way.
ReplyDeletei don't really remember none of this stuff but i still feel bad for all the families that have lost a love one much love to the families that our still standing strong.
ReplyDeletei wish the attack could have been avoided
ReplyDeleteI think it was sad because the kid is too young.

ReplyDeletei think its sad that it had to happen to that 19 year kid
ReplyDeletei admire this kids maturity
ReplyDeleteLosing a family member is always a devastating thing. You can't help but feel for this guy.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why terrorists do what they do? but i guess there is a reason for everything..
ReplyDeleteit must have been devastating for a young boy to lose his hero. and i just cant imagine not having MY father around...let alone a young boy who grew up with out his. :(
ReplyDeletefirst: I'm really sorry for Zachary. it's hard to lose a parent. But kudos for getting back up and doing everything in his father's honor. that is really hard to do and i think he's very brave. Second: 9/11 should have never happened. we need to kick some major AL-Quida butt.
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely horrible that a young kid had to go through the loss of a parent. What's worse is that Zachary was far from being the only one to deal with that. Even so, it is amazing how he was able to get through the tragedy and go on to use his life to help others.
ReplyDeleteIt must have hard for a young boy to loss his father at that young of a age.
ReplyDeleteI feel terrible for him and everyone touched by 9/11.
ReplyDelete9/11 is heartbreaking and I admire this man's bravery in standing in his dad's place for his family.
ReplyDeleteThis kid was very brave in the fact that his father died when he was very young and he was able to stand up for his family

ReplyDeletethat must be tough for a kid to handle
ReplyDeleteIts sad that people lost loved one on that day
ReplyDeleteReading that Article was heartbreaking. But, i'm proud of that boy standing up and taking his father's place. That must have been hard to do, I couldn't imagine the feeling of having to have someone you love die in such a tragedy.
ReplyDeleteit's sad because so many people lost family member's that day.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty sad about the little boy because his dad didn't have the chance to be a father to him. 9/11 just didn't affect the little boy's life, but influenced millions of others to have more security.
ReplyDeleteDAaaanq, itss Tuff for a Kiid to deaal w/ losiing his pareents. I dont know whaat i'd do w/ ouut my dad or mom.
ReplyDeleteThaats saad for all the peoplee who lost family members && friiends in the 9/11 terrorists attack.
R.I.P Jenna Lyons <3
that made me sad.. there is no way i could have handled that as a kid .. i love my parents to death i don't know what i would do with out them
ReplyDeletei just felt so bad about it because all those people died during that time
ReplyDeletethe tragedy of 9/11 was absolutely devastating!! its amazing how a little boy who just lost his father was able to be there for his mother and sister
ReplyDeleteThis story is very gave a very strong filling to me and i am happy for the kid to have grown to be a very grown up person.
ReplyDeleteI hope the people that lost there family's are OK and can try to help others that were effected
ReplyDeleteI bet his father would be extremely proud of him. I know i wouldd be. That s an incredibly large responsibility to take on for such a young child. That shows that no matter what your intuition is, you can always overcome, and look forward to the better side.
ReplyDeletethat was sad but i'm happy for him to move on and go to college i think by his father dying it made him stronger
ReplyDeletei would go back to see all them people and they will alway be in my memory
ReplyDeleteIm glad the kid grew up and decided to become the man of the family! That is a good thing to do. But I also feel bad for the kid because he had to grow up so fast and not have a normal childhood.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could have stopped the 9/11 attacks so kids like him didn't have to grow up without parents, and parents didn't have to lose children.
ReplyDeleteIt sad that he lost his dad at young age, And its good that he is helping other people with there problems.
ReplyDeleteThis now young man,is very strong & has a lot of courage. He knew what he had to do for his family which was step up and be there for them. Also to become man! Its amazing.
ReplyDeleteI think that the guy turned out very positive, even when he lived in negative situations. I respect that.
ReplyDeleteThis poor kid is very brave. Losing a parent like that would be devastating. 9/11 was a truly horrible event that took many American lives. Many of them were mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, etc. This is just a little insight into a brave boy who took this tragedy and turned it into something positive. The way he's keeping his father's spirit alive is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteit is sad that he lost his dad
ReplyDeletei just feel like he is a strong person and i feel bad that i dont talk to my dad just because and i actually can and he cant :(
ReplyDeletei felt bad for him at first when he said his father was not only a father but his best friend, but later on it upset me that he said he rejoiced over the death of osama benladen. I was shocked he still hasn't forgiven him. Only more wars will occur with attitudes like this.
ReplyDeleteIts sad because he only spent 9 yrs with his father and probably cant remember him that well.
ReplyDeleteits sad but true wat happened.
ReplyDeleteThis is sad. Many people lose their parents at a young age but he has to think about it more often because people are always talking about 9/11.
ReplyDeleteI feel real bad cause he said it wasent just his father it was also his bestfriend
ReplyDeleteI couldn't imagine the pain he was going through, and his family. He was brave to have kept going and take charge of his family. Things like this should be prevented.
ReplyDeleteHis parents built him strong, because if i lost my dad it would be too hard to deal with that kind of pain. and its really good how he where his dads number in honor of him.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how hard for that family was affected. His family must of bee effected so badly.

ReplyDeleteIf i were this kid i couldn't handle it i would dedicate every moment of my life seeking revenge on the ones who plotted the attack.
ReplyDeleteus people are safe now.
ReplyDeleteus people are safe now...z2 said
ReplyDeletethat kid is very strong to take all that awful news and still be standing then help others in the 9/11 attacks.
ReplyDeletei do not fill safe with this government i think if they new something bad was going to happen to us that they wouldn't tell us the already aint telling us about the way or solar system is
ReplyDeleteThat's really sad, I pray for good things for him and his family
ReplyDeleteI think that the people that supported 9/11 and that the police and fireman that sacrificed there lives for us were very brave and i will always respect them if they are deceased or not.
