Quote of the Week

Drawing is the honesty of art. To draw does not mean simply to reproduce contours: drawing does not consist merely of line. Drawing is also expression, the inner form, the plane and modeling. See what remains after that. Drawing includes three and a half quarters of the content of painting. -- Jean Auguste Ingres Quote

Another Modern House in an Old Style: Neo-Classicism

Neoclassical of revival of classical art forms: relating to or belonging to a style of art and architecture prevalent in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, characterized by the simple, symmetrical forms of ancient Greek and Roman art. Use the link to look at home that is decorated in this style. Then comment on the home. Do you like any item? How does this compare to the other house we looked at?Do you know the family? Do they celebrate simplicity in this home?

  2. This house is packed full of sculptures and art just like the other house. I still don't really like it just because there is too much to look at, but I give the family props for it.

  3. I think the house is beautiful. There's artwork in every room unlike any other house, I see alot of red. No I dont know the family but they seem very artistic. But yes I believe they celebrate simplicity in the home to show it off and how proud they are of their home.

  4. I didn't particularly like the house. The other house was grander and more over done and to me looked more royal witch is what I like. I did like the chandler though. No I don't know the family but I can tell they don't celebrate simplicity.

  13. I like the house and think it is very beautiful. However, if I lived in the house I would remove the sculptures. I'm not really a fan of them. But, I would leave the themes, furniture, and pictures.

  16. This house isn't as detailed or as cluttered as the other, but it is still gorgeous. I like the most how there is a round painting above the bed.

  19. eh the artworks pretty cool but i wouldn't live in a house that's basically a museum

  20. It's simpler than the other house that was previously shown. However i disliked that one and i dislike this one due to the fact that people would waste this much money a house and some decorations to go inside it. If anything these people should stick to the simple life and donate some of their money and use the rest for interest to live off of for the rest of their life. I mean 2 million pounds is enough to live the rest of your life in a simple fashion. Instead these people are wasting it on a house and some fancy artwork. I can appreciate the artwork, but really they should sell it to a museum.

  21. I think this house is amazing. The artwork, and every room is beautiful. I would choose this home over the other one any day. The other one is just too cluttered with stuff on top of stuff. This one, I actually like and would consider living in it. Except for the fact it would be too much to clean haha.

  22. I like the house, its big and looks like it has an incredible view. I couldn't live there though, it has too many sculptures and decorations in it.

  23. I don't like it because there is too much artwork for me. Especially all the sculptures.

  24. It seems. . interesting. Some peices were a tad bit odd. This house is very outgoing and seems like there is plenty of room. Nothing really looks "simple" in the home.

  25. I think it looks extremely gaudy and I would probably knock over a sculpture so I would not like to live there.

  26. I like the house but I Could not live in a with a of those paintings

  27. I don't really like that each room is filled with so many different items. This house has a lot more in it than the last house we looked at. I do not know the family, at all. Never heard of them. They don't celebrate simplicity because that house is not simplistic at all.

  28. I love this house, I would definitely want to live there. It's not as gaudy as the previous home, however there are more sculptures in this one.

  29. i dont think that house would be for me .. im extremely clumsy and i would be scared to touch anything . so i couldnt do that to myself

  30. Me, personally I wouldn't like to live there to many sculptures and I would be scared to do much because I wouldn't want to break anything.

  31. I don't really like the house. There are too many sculptures everywhere.I liked the other house better because they decorated prettier and didn't have as much statues. There is nothing simple about this home.

  32. I don't think I could live in a house like that. I would be too afraid of breaking something very valuable. Maybe a quick visit would be nice.

  33. i think the house is beautiful, but the artwork is a little too much. Its beautiful artwork, but it would be kinda overwhelming and creepy to me.

  34. I don't think I like the house. I do believe that it is beautiful though. However I saw that there was a Nude sculpture right about a table? I can't speak for anyone else, but the last thing i want to see while in eating is genitalia in my face.
